| The Seventh
Heaven Ranch promotes the use of renewable energy and is designing life on
the ranch to utilize solar energy for both heat and electric generation,
wind energy for electric and mechanical uses. We are attempting to minimize
the use of fossil fuels as much as possible with a goal of total renewable
energy by 2008. Every step you can take to reduce energy consumption
should be taken. Replace incandescent light bulbs with electronic
start (cold cathode) florescent lamps or the new L.E.D. lights that take only 1.3 watts for
the equivalent 60 watt incandescent. Install on off switches on appliances
that consume power when you think they are off - like televisions, computer
monitors and remote controlled devices of any kind. The ranch will operate its own greenhouse for seed
starting as well as herb and vegetable production. We will trade our
surplus for other things of need that we do not produce.
Our first major project will be an electric car and a work mule that will
both be recharged by PV cells on the shop roof. We are hoping that
someone will produce a small diesel powered van that can use our biodiesel
fuel. A back-up generator for emergency use will utilize biodiesel as
well. One well on the property will be powered by a windmill. Over time we will begin
producing our own biodiesel once the workshop building is ready for
projects. |
